2010 Convention Patron
Please allow us to introduce you to Ricks Institute (Ricks). Ricks is a Kindergarten through 12th grade (K-12) school located in Liberia, West Africa supported by private funds. At Ricks, it is about caring for children’s edu-cational needs that can unlock the doors for the future. It currently enrolls about 600 students, in both day classes and the residential program.
The school was established in 1887 and it stands on a proud history of academic excellence. A high percentage of its graduates achieve excel-lent scores on the standardized West African High School Exams prior to graduation and most graduates seek higher professional career following graduation from universities, graduate schools and beyond.
Liberia is economically challenged thus revenue from Ricks tuition is dwin-dling. Ricks Institute Alumni Association (RIAA) work ceaselessly to keep the school’s doors open, even during difficult times of the country’s civil war. We continuously provide funds for textbooks, educational materials, school library, teachers’ salaries, infrastructural repair, etc. We aspire to re-energize the scholarship program and maintain a quality Free Primary Education program.
Alumni residing in the United States founded RIAA in 1989. It has a non-profit 501(C) (3) status and its membership has increased above seven hundred. The Alumni Association’s mission is not to have any Child turned away because of their inability to pay nor allowed this distinguished School doors to close.
The task for sustaining Ricks remains vast. Our annual fund raising initia-tives, the 2010 Convention, will be held at the Potomac Manor Retreat in Maryland, from September 3rd to September 5th, over the Labor Day Week-end. Our fundraising goal is $80,000 (eighty thousand US dollars).
We will be greatly honored by your generous PATRONAGE of our Convention with a tax-deductible contribution of minimally $1000 (One Thousand US dollars) or what you deem appropriate, payable and mailed as designated below:
